Practically an exact replica of the original Ein Gedi System developed in Israel, the RainForest is designed to maximize the amount of oxygen available to plant roots. The plants are suspended in mesh pots (net cups) and supported using expanded clay (Hydroton) as a medium (or system can be used medium-free). Below the mesh pots is an air gap into which the roots grow to soak up much needed oxygen. The nutrient solution is lifted up and sprayed into this air gap by a specially designed vaporizer, creating an ultra-fine, incredibly uniform mist. The result is the highest levels of oxygen attainable in the root zone. The unit can be purchased with one of three lid kits: RF242, (42) 2" plant sites; RF318, (18) 3" plant sites; or RF66, (6) 6" plant sites. The lid kits can also be purchased separately (see Hydroponic Accessories section).
Model RF318 is the best selling RainForest since it can accommodate up to eighteen small plants from cuttings to harvest, or up to ninety cuttings for rooting and transplantation.
RainForest model 242 is ideal for starting many cuttings or seeds in a small area, ideal as a "nursery".
Model RF66 is the favorite for growers who want to grow medium to large size plants to harvest. This model has been used by the Argonne National Laboratory as well as Los Alamos National Laboratory for scientific research and has demonstrated the most dramatic growth rates and yields of any hydroponic system yet tested; it is also the most popular unit which we export to Holland - a very demanding market with knowledgeable and skilled growers. If you want a modular system and want to see hydroponics at its best, the Model 66 is the ultimate. Several RainForest modules can be connected to a Texas Controller for larger installations.
