Electronic systems come with reflector, ballast, bulb of choice, and cord and socket. For details on reflector options see related items.
• Electronic Sun System Galaxy and Lumatek ballasts are available in wattages of 150, 250, 400, 600, or 1000, and wired for 120/240V operation. The 250 watt, 400 watt and 1000 watt are MH/HPS switchable.
• More lumens generated per watt of electricity consumed - Lumatek™ ballasts have increased efficiency over magnetic ballasts. They lose fewer watts from the power supply to the lamp. This is a power factor of 99%+. The high frequency output results in low power loss.
• Fast start-up – they reach full brightness quickly.

Comes prewired for a standard wall plug, 120V operation. The ballast does offer Multi-Volt operation, simply flip the 120/240 switch and plug in a Smart Volt 240V power cord, available for $12.99 (903082).
Bulbs are warranted for one year.
Note: It has been our experience that in some cases, the Hortilux bulb does not fire in Galaxy ballasts, please contact Hortilux for more information. Also, may cause interference with Constant pH or ppm meters or other electronics in close proximity; call manufacturer for full disclosure.

Q) i have a 400 watt galaxy electronic ballast i tried to use it for the first time and it doesnt work. ive tried many different types of bulbx both hps and mh but nothing seems to work...is the ballast just bad or is there something im missing
A) First make sure all your connections are secure. Also make sure the connections are correct (ie a 120v cord is plugged into the 120 slot and connected to a 120 socket). You may also try resetting the ballast if your ballast has a reset button. If all your attempts still do not produce light, it may be your ballast.

Q) ok i see that hotilux 400 hps bulbs dont work....then what type does work with galaxy bc the sylvania 400w hps doesnt work in it either
A) Hortilux bulbs work great on 400 watt electronic ballasts. The 600s occasionally have problems - for 600s purchase the recommended upgrade.
